history
The Lino Lakes Ambassador Program was established in 2004 as part of the Lino Lakes Blue Heron Days Festival. Lino Lakes has the second largest blue heron rookery in the state of Minnesota, and the blue heron symbolizes the city's beauty and natural amenities. Since 2004, fifty-one young women have represented the city of Lino Lakes and the Blue Heron Days Festival as ambassadors and have earned thousands of dollars in educational scholarships provided by the Lino Lakes Ambassador Program through generous donations of business sponsors and individuals.
mission
Our mission is "empowering young women in the community to become confident leaders through mentorship, volunteerism, and educational scholarships."
Candidate program participants and Ambassadors receive professional development opportunities and personalized mentorship from program and community leaders including opportunities to increase self-confidence, improve networking and public speaking abilities, and learn what it means to be a servant leader and effective team member.
The three young women chosen as Ambassadors grow tremendously throughout their year of service. They complete the program prepared to achieve their goals by having strengthened critical soft-skills and by having each earned an educational scholarship to support their success in higher education.
